Quick answer: how do I get a VOE in Round Rock?

About this guide: Compiled by the Parinama Driving School team for teen drivers and parents in Round Rock. Eligibility rules come from Texas state guidance, including the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) VOE form. School links and phone numbers come from school contact information. Last reviewed October 2026.

What is a VOE and who needs one?

A Verification of Enrollment (VOE) is a form signed by a school official confirming that a student is enrolled and meeting attendance requirements. Texas requires it for applicants under 18 who are applying for a learner license or provisional driver license and do not have a high school diploma or equivalent. The student takes the signed VOE to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). It is not sent to the Texas Education Agency. For the full explanation, read our complete Texas VOE guide.

How do you request a VOE? Step by step

1. Confirm eligibility. Your teen should be currently enrolled and have met the 90% attendance standard for the previous semester.
2. Find your school below. Use the online request form or call the school office.
3. Submit the request. Ask about processing time and pick-up. Some schools also ask that outstanding fees be cleared first.
4. Pick up the signed form. A school official signs it, and a parent or guardian permission section is part of the form.
5. Take it to DPS before it expires. Book your appointment with the validity window in mind.

VOE timing and eligibility

How long is a VOE valid?

According to Texas state guidance, a VOE is valid for 30 days during the school year and 90 days if it is issued between June and August. Request it close to your DPS appointment so it does not expire, and confirm the timing with your school.

What if my teen does not meet the 90% attendance rule?

Schools decide VOE eligibility, and neither DPS nor TEA can overrule that decision. Contact the school's attendance office to review attendance records and ask about any options available.

What can delay a VOE?

• Attendance below 90%, or a class from the previous semester without credit.
• Outstanding fees at schools that require them to be paid first.
• Requesting during school breaks or holidays when offices are closed.
• Letting the VOE expire before the DPS appointment.
• Contacting the wrong office. Use the contact listed for your school above.
